Another “orange” invasion at Woodhorn. This time, the sun shone on the hi viz of volunteers from Nexus Rails were dismantled, old ballast dug out by hand, and complete re laying of several panels of track…..hard graft ! but, a truly productive day, spent in high spirits, resulting in great achievements. As it is “Volunteers Week”, it was fitting to welcome AECOM back to the railway again. During this visit, we reached the milestone point of halfway through the track restoration…yay !!. WNGR was delighted to have been selected to receive volunteers for a day from AECOM, Network Rail and NCC….and what a day !. Not only did the sun shine all day, but…30metres of track lifted and renewed, just a bit top dressing to complete on the last section. Well done all involved, fantastic achievement.
