We have a new door. The old doors at the rear of the engine shed were on their last legs so we purchased a new roller door which was kindly installed by C Oliver Builders. I think we can all agree the end result looks great.

Many thanks to ‘Ian Bickerton’ who has given his time and skills completely free of charge in order we can carry out necessary tree surgery to overhanging, diseased and “Ash Die Back” stricken trees around the station area. We are monitoring for further signs of disease but hopefully we can save as many as possible.…

We have now been able to purchase the 1540 railway sleepers required to relay the track, together with the fencing materials required for the relevant sections of track. Thanks to the very kind donations from Dobies Garden Centre in Morpeth and the Wansbeck Garden in Ashington, we have converted 3 of our display rolling stock into planters and I’m sure you’ll agree it looks great and will give us a great show of colour this spring.

Just a quick update on progress so far. Most of the progress has been behind the scenes so outwardly there does not appear to be anything happening. We now have a new sign which was installed today on our main engine shed. The sign replaces the old and worn wooden signs and I think you’ll agree it looks great and is an instant improvement. thanks to Signs Express Newcastle for the very generous donation.

Work was done today to move a lengh of disused track and relocate it alongside the platform allowing 3 former trucks to be located at the entrance to the railway.
